The first entry is General Pool Rules which are generic rules that apply to all pool games (this excludes Snooker, Pub Pool games, English Billiards, and Carom games). Some pool games to have exceptions to the generic rules, and those are noted.
These rule writeups were designed to be simple and convey all important game rule information. They are not the word for word official rule write-ups. You can reference official rule sites to read those.
Note that game setup Advanced options can modify some rules.
